Welcome to Karmyq. This guide walks you through everything you need to get started — from creating an account to making your first request.
1. Create an Account
Go to karmyq.com and click Register.
You'll need:
- An email address
- A display name (this is how the community will know you)
- A password
No phone number, credit card, or social login required.
2. Join a Community
After registering, you'll land on your dashboard. From here, you can:
Browse public communities — Go to Communities in the nav and look for communities near you or relevant to your interests.
Accept an invitation — If someone invited you, click the invitation link to join directly.
Create your own community — Click Create Community to start a mutual aid group for your neighborhood, building, or organization.
3. Understand Your Starting State
When you join a community, you start with a baseline karma balance and no trust connections.
Some communities have a karma lockout period — a short window where new members can observe and participate before posting high-effort requests. During this period, help others to build your reputation from day one.
4. Your First Action
The best way to get started is to help someone first.
Browse the community feed and find a request you can fulfill. Completing it will:
- Earn you karma
- Start building a trust connection with that person
- Signal to the community that you're here to contribute
